This past day was full of adventure that came to us through ALL modes of transportation. We had a day off and many of us decided to meet up with our Teach for the Philippines Fellows and have lunch and talk about what the first day of school looked like. All of us were excited to get off campus but the day took a turn towards excitement when we were told about how to get to the restaurant.
First, we walked to the LRT, the local lightrail transportation, which was only one block away. From there we were able to hop onto a Jeepey. A Jeepey is an old extended Jeep left behind from the Americans after World War II. These are almost like mini-buses that have limited routes and are decorated to the EXTREME! The Jeepey has us all sitting sideways facing each other and we got to transfer and ride two! But as excited as we all were to finally get to ride in a Jeepey, the transportation exploration was still not done! From our Jeepey we transferred over to a tricycle. This is pretty much a motorized scooter/moped with a side car attached. They obviously have three wheels and are really small so they can weave between traffic quickly! The tricycle holds the driver, two passengers on the back of the bike and up to three (small) people in the side car. The tricycles were so fun and felt really breezy when sitting on the back! Finally, our adventure ended when we arrived at the restaurant where we ate silog, but that is another story for another blog post!
